Biography

Sibylla Deen was born (November 12th, 1982) and raised in Sydney, Australia. From a young age, Sibylla showed a keen interest in acting. She began her professional acting studies at age of 12 traveling to the US, China and New Zealand to perform in on stage. She is known for her portrayal of 'Nusrat Al Fayeed', Tyrant (FX) and Queen Ankhesenamun 'Ankhe' in Tut, together with Ben Kingsley and Avan Jogia. (Spike TV). Deen was born in Sydney, Australia, of Pakistani and English descent. She studied in Charles Sturt University, Bathurst Campus. Currently she is living in United States of America.
Sibylla Jane Deen was born and raised in Sydney, Australia (South Wales). Deen's half-Pakistani, half-English heritage makes for a striking beauty that's been turning heads for years. But the Sydney-born actress ain't just a pretty face, from a young age, Sibylla showed a keen interest in acting.

From the age of 9, she was appearing in Australian TV commercials and modeling campaigns. She began her professional acting studies at age 12 traveling to the US, China and New Zealand with the Australian Youth Theatre. 
 "My way was simple, I've danced, acted and sung since I was tiny... it developed into more formal training as I grew older and has just continued on throughout my life. I recently won Actress of the Year at IMTA (International Model and Talent Association) which helped launched my career in the states".

In 2003 she landed a role in the long-running Australian soap opera "Home and Away". Whilst working on the show she also completed a Bachelor of Arts degree (Communications - Theatre and Media) at Charles Sturt University. After moving to New York in 2009 Sibylla competed at International Modeling & Talent Association, winning Actor of the Year and a number of other awards. This led to a variety of minor film roles and other media assignments. In 2009 Sibylla was appointed Ambassador for 1 year for Forever New Clothing stores in Australia and in 2012 was the face of Pond's Freyja in India and the Middle East.

She is half-Pakistani and half-English. Deen make her debut in 2003 in the Australian soap opera “Home and Away” with her role of Amber McNeil.
"Home and Away helped me to discover my passion for TV/film style acting which has definitely influenced my career path. I broke away from theatre worked on many different: commercial, film and TV projects. I also worked part-time in marketing and events which gave me a more well rounded view of the industry".

In 2009 Deen was awarded Actress of the Year at IMTA (International Model and Talent Association) After “Home and Away” and a small participation in the North American TV series “Gossip Girl”, Sibylla spent several years modeling before landing major roles. She said:

"Yes still modeling, in the sense of editorial, commercials and print. But no fashion week for me, I'm a teeny tiny 5'6". I went to lots of great shows and parties though... The city was so buzzed"

And it was in 2014 on her role as; the shy and submissive Nusrat Al Fayeed in the acclaimed series "Tyrant" next to Adam Rayner, Moran Atias, Jennifer Finnigan, Ashraf Barhom, among others. This role took her to the international superstardom. In an interview with TVGodness.com she specified:

“Tyrant is the fictional story of two brothers from a Middle Eastern country, who basically are vying for power. One has exiled himself to America and has a completely American life and then he’s returned back to the country and the other one has stayed. One is evil, in a sense, and the other one is good and they’re fighting out to see who will become the president, because their father dies. We’re in our second season now. I play the daughter of the president and I have been raped and kidnapped and a myriad of horrible things of happen to me, but at this point in the story I’m pregnant and I’ve decided to stay and to get my revenge. That’s where we’re at. I don’t quite know what I’m gonna do.”

During the recordings of the second season, Deen took a valuable opportunity on a new production of SpikeTV, it was a three-part miniseries based on the life of Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun. She remembers:
"When I first read the screenplay, it was the most awesome thing. The story was just extraordinary and everything just came to life on the page. I even cried at certain parts. There are real people in there, their burden and what they are fighting for. And the women are written so fantastically. I was like, “I have to do this. It will be incredible.”

She also adds: 
“I think I’ve always had a fascination with Egypt, but I didn’t know a lot about (Ankh)” she told International Business Times in a phone interview. “I knew a lot about Tut and other people in ancient Egypt, but never her. You know they never found her body. They discovered that Tut remarried twice, but they never found her. We don’t know where she is.”


After shoot “TUT” next to co-stars as Avan Jogia, Kylie Bunbury and Sir Ben Kingsley in 2014. She continued some “Tyrant” shootings for season 3. In the course of the season his character was removed in relation to the advance of the history that was developed in the drama.
And finally in 2016, the FX network decided not to renew the fourth season of the series. But Deen continued forward acting, at the beginning of 2016 participated in a leading role in the film “Lies We Tell” next to the Bangladeshi descent actor Jan Uddin. 

At the end of 2016, there were rumors that Sibylla would participate in the fourth season of the hit series "The Last Ship" starring by Eric Dane as Captain Tom Chandler. The website Deadline.com reported that Sibylla Deen will have a recurring role on the TNT drama. Deadline shared the following about her role:
 “Deen will recur as Lucia, a cunning survivor of the plague with a special interest in the fate of the world. She is disciplined but also ruthless and unforgiving and has an ax to grind with Chandler.”

The fourth season will premiere in summer 2017. Currently Sibylla is focused on the recordings of "The Last Ship". As she once said:

 "After "Tyrant," I’m coming back here and meeting with a few people. There are a few things on the horizon but nothing I can confirm just now".
Meanwhile the list of followers of this beautiful Australian actress continues increasing, placing her under the Hollywood microscope, where several cinematographic producers have shown their interest in the acting skills of this young girl. Between firm steps Deen has established solid foundations in the business, where it has demonstrated a promising future.
